Sep 1, 2010

NorthwesTel, a subsidiary of Bell Canada and the primary telecommunications provider in Northern Canada, selected Solana Networks to carry out an audit of their IP network. NorthwesTel’s network serves a large geographic area with customer sites in remote and urban settings. The company offers data, telephone, television, wireless, and additional communications services. The IP network audit was carried out as part of a commitment to continually evaluate and improve network operations. Given the large area served, it is important for the company to reduce costs, simplify network design and operate reliably while ensuring the highest levels of service.

Solana Networks expertise in IP network discovery, monitoring and diagnostics were key aspects in NorthwesTel’s selection process. During the audit Solana Networks personnel conducted interviews, analyzed current network architectures, design, protocols and data from measurement tools as well as carried out network discovery exercises using their SMARTHawk network discovery product. Steve Sorochan, Director of Network Operations at NorthwesTel stated that “I am quite pleased with the results of the audit and the recommendations put forward by the Solana Team. The causes, impacts, and remediation actions were clearly laid out to show how implementing these recommendations will improve service for our Customers.”

Solana Networks is a leading provider of network discovery, monitoring and assessment solutions for network operators that carry voice, cellular, video or mission critical data over their IP networks.
